We are sorry to announce that Rick is no longer with The Greenery. He has had to change careers, due to his physical health. Those that have come to know Rick know he has been struggling in this area for some time. Rick will be dearly missed, even though you may catch him shopping at The Greenery! Ali - Bedding, Color and Displays Manager

Ali has been gardening since she was a kid and has always loved working outdoors. She has taken a particular interest in perennials and annuals - her passion is using color! With an educational background in color and design in the fine arts, she has enjoyed utilizing her knowledge at The Greenery. Since joining the Greenery in the Fall of 2009, she has married Ian, a professional musician and aide for special needs children. When they aren't working, they enjoy going to live concerts in the Bay Area. Other hobbies she enjoys are oil painting, photography, baking, and growing her own organic veggies!
   

 

 

Teresa - Gift Shop Manager, Bookkeeper

Teresa has been at The Greenery since 2000. She has a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and a wonderful eye for color and design, both in the garden and in the home. She utilizes her talents as the Gift Shop Manager and Bookkeeper for The Greenery. Her home sits on an acre and is full of perennial color for every season. Her favorites are Oakleaf Hydrangea and Catmint, which borders many of her beds. She shares her home with her husband, Mike, her two children who are now both in college, a dog, a cat and two goats. The Elstads are big game and card players and also enjoy hiking and camping at the ocean or in the Sierras.

 

 

Adria - Marketing and Seminars Manager

Adria has been gardening since age 12. Since joining The Greenery in winter of 2001, she married Chris, who is now an officer with the California Highway Patrol. They have 3 children: Joseph born 2006, and identical twin girls born January 2010, Isabel and Grace. Using her degree in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Horticulture Science, Adria has learned the nursery well. She has a thorough knowledge of plants as well as products, marketing and displays. Adria has increasing knowledge and passion for marketing the nursery, she was ecstatic to put The Greenery on Facebook. In the rare moments that she gets to garden she enjoys growing veggies, perennials and annuals for birds and butterflies and other wildlife-friendly plants.

 

 

Chavelle - Nursery and Gift Shop Sales

Chavelle brings to The Greenery 20 plus years experience in floral design with a sincere interest in applying her design skills to gardening. She enjoys discovering new and cool plants here at the nursery. Other hobbies include kayaking, hiking and cooking for friends and family. She also loves to spend time at Lake Tahoe with her husband, Cory.
   
 

 

Cam - Hardgoods and Customer Service Manager

Cam brings two decades of experience teaching math and science to his position at The Greenery. He is very good at answering questions about plants and explaining products to the customer. Cam's particular interest in plants is centered on trees, implementing his degree in Forest Management and experience with the USDA Forest Service.

When Cam is not working in his garden, he enjoys making carvings out of stone, wood or bone.

 

 

Lee - Nursery Sales

Lee relies on his degree in Ornamental Horticulture and over 30 years experience in landscape and swimming pool design to help customers who visit the Greenery. "I have a passion for trees and shrubs and the use of color, form and texture in the garden. I especially enjoy working with new homeowners, introducing them to the exciting world of gardening. A well-designed landscape should call to you, it should be something that becomes an extension of the inside of your home...." He also enjoys educating new homeowners about soil preparation: "Feed the soil first, then feed the plants," is a favorite saying of his. When Lee is not working at the Greenery he enjoys cooking and entertaining with his wife and 3 grown children. In his spare time he can often be found creating oil paintings.
   
 

 

Matt - Nursery Sales

Matt is the go-to guy for all of your shrubbery needs! He's been in the nursery field for almost 4 years now. He is majoring in Forestry and Natural resources at MJC. One day, Matt wishes to become a Forest Ranger.

When he's not at work, you can find him backpacking, hiking, fishing, or camping somewhere in the Sierras! He truly has a passion for everything outdoors!
   
 

 

Brodie - Nursery Sales

Brodie came to The Greenery in 2009, with 18 years of experience in landscape construction and maintenance. He has earned a degree in Business Administration and is working toward a Landscape Architecture degree at Modesto Junior College. He plans on transferring to a 4 year university to continue his education.

Brodie has been married to his wife, Whitney, since 2001. They enjoy rock climbing and hiking in the Sierra Nevadas.
   
 

 

Kyle
Nursery Sales

Kyle was born in the nursery business, almost literally. He has been working around nurseries since he was five and brings a vast knowledge of plants to the team. When not at the nursery, Kyle enjoys backpacking, fly-fishing and surfing. When at the nursery, you might find him out in the fruit trees ‘thinning’ (taste testing) the crops.
