Redbud trees are showy accent trees that are very drought-tolerant once established. Cheery flowers in the Spring, attractive leaf shape in Summer, and Fall colors give Redbuds year-round interest. They are best grown in full sun except as noted below. Water Redbuds deeply but infrequently once established.

Here are a few of the Redbud tree varieties we have in stock!

Tenessee Pink Redbud- Cercis canadensis ‘Tennessee Pink’

Bright pink-purple flowers bloom for three weeks in Spring. The new foliage emerges red and then turns dark green for summer. In the Fall, the leaves turn pale yellow to yellow-green and then drop their leaves for winter. 15-20′ tall and wide.

Pink Pom Poms Redbud

A SUPER cute flowering Redbud named for the pom pom-shaped flowers in Spring. The double-petaled flowers bloom one week later than most Redbuds, and the flowers are sterile so they won’t drop seeds like other varieties. The heart-shaped leaves are green in summer and fade to yellow in the Fall. Grows up to 20′ tall by 15′ wide.

Flame Thrower Redbud

Flame Thrower is aptly named for the many colors shown in the Fall foliage. This variety is gorgeous as a specimen tree from burgundy to yellow, red, and green. It is rounded, reaching 15′ tall by 15′ wide.

Ruby Falls Redbud

This variety has a unique weeping form in which the branches grow downwards like a Weeping Willow. Lavender-red flowers bloom in the Spring. Summer foliage is burgundy and changes to yellow in the Fall–LOTS of year-round interest! A more compact variety, reaching 6-8′ tall by 5-6′ wide.

Alley Cat Redbud

‘Alley Cat’ is a gorgeous Redbud with variegated foliage. While most variegated plants are heat-sensitive, this variety will not scorch in full sun. In spring, pink flowers cover the branches and are followed by new pink foliage. The foliage eventually matures to green and then will start to show variegation. Matures to about 20-30′ tall and wide.

Sparkling Wine Redbud

You don’t have to wait for fall color with this variety! ‘Sparkling Wine’ is named for its glossy burgundy and green foliage in the summer. The flowers in spring are deep lavender, and new leaves emerge a bright burgundy. It is a compact variety, only reaching 12-15′ tall and wide, so it is best used as a specimen tree in the landscape.
