1. Water plants before planting.
  2. Dig a hole twice as wide and 1½ times deeper than the container. Mix the soil with Gardner & Bloome Starter Fertilizer and Gardner & Bloome Planting Mix. Return a few inches of the mixture to the hole.
  3. Carefully remove the root ball from the container. Plant the correct depth. The top of the root ball should be at ground level, slightly visible after planting.
  4. Fill in the hole with the soil-fertilizer mixture.
  5. Build a 2 inch watering basin around the plant.
  6. Water 2-3 times after planting to settle soil. Rule of thumb for each watering: a #1 size plant needs 1 gallon of water, a #5 size plant needs 5 gallons of water, etc. Be sure to check for water needs daily.
  7. A 1 inch mulch with Gardner & Bloome Soil Building Compost or extra Planting Mix over the soil will keep the root ball cool.
