Barberry: The plant of many colors.

Do you ever want the plant that has it all? A variety of colors, drought tolerant, full sun, and little-to-no pruning. Well, look no further…Barberry is the match for you.

This plant will add great interest to your yard but is still easy to maintain. Here are a few varieties, but come in to pick your favorite!

Disclaimer: Barberry, as its name describes, has barbs, which makes it a great barrier plant.

Cabernet Barberry

Cabernet has a compact form, growing only 2′ tall and 2-3′ wide. It is great for adding low-maintenance color as a low filler plant in the landscape. The new foliage has a bright crimson color and then fades to deep purple and burgundy.

Golden Rocket Barberry

Golden Rocket is packed with color, it has bright yellow foliage which turns orangey-red in the Fall. It has an upright form, growing 3-5′ tall and 2-3′ wide.

Crimson Ruby

Crimson Ruby is another compact variety of Barberry, growing only 2′ tall and 2′ wide. Use as an accent plant for the deep burgundy foliage. This variety has a rounded form which can be trained into a hedge if planted closely together.

Orange Rocket Barberry

Orange Rocket won the Best Shrub award at the 2010 New Varieties Showcase at the Oregon Association of Nurserymen’s Far West Show. The coral-orange new foliage fades to green but in Fall is a bright ruby red, as shown in the picture. This variety provides year-round interest with all of the color changes it goes through. It is another vertical forming shrub, growing 4-5′ tall and 2-3′ wide.

Golden Carousel Barberry

Golden Carousel has brilliant yellow foliage with a tinge of burgundy on the leaves in Fall. It is a very dense shrub that can be used as a hedge or specimen plant for the foliage color. It grows 4-5′ tall and 3-4′ wide.

Sunjoy Neo Barberry

Our latest variety in stock is Sunjoy Neo–check out that bright red foliage!! This variety is disease resistant and is suitable for very hot spots in the garden. Sunjoy Neo grows in a compact, rounded form reaching just under 3′ tall and 3′ wide.
